Have you ever had a rough time getting your music OFF your iPod and back onto your computer? If so, don’t feat. CNET has a great write-up about some of the software that can make it easy to get the music from your iPod and back onto your computer. Of course, most of you by now have seen and messed with the latest iPod Touch. It is indeed a masterpiece. But even if you have an older iPod, you still want an easy and quick way to get YOUR music from the mp3 player BACK TO your computer.
It sounds like a simple task, but it’s frustratingly difficult and clumsy sometimes. It’s easy to get music to the mp3 player, but the other way is a bit harder. The good news is that whenever there is a problem with technology, chances are there are five or five hundred people out there looking for a solution. And when it comes to getting songs off your iPod, there’s more than one solution out there – which is ALWAYS a good thing, ya know?
Check out the article as it has a lot of great screenshots and information about simplifying the process of getting music from your iPod mp3 player back to your desktop, laptop, netbook, or computing device of your choice. You have to shell out a few bucks in some cases, but if you think about all the time (and frustration!) you’re going to save, it’s going to be worth the money.
If you have any tips or techniques for getting music off an iPod mp3 player and back to a computer, we’d love to hear them. Leave a comment below and give us the scoop!
Until next time, remember to back up your files in more than one place!

The Zune HD from Microsoft (yeah, they’ve been hit and miss with products … cough Vista cough), but they keep trying, which is to be commended. Their Zune player (see CNET Review or Official Microsoft Site) has been through a lot of changes. A while back, there was mention of a touchscreen version coming out. Well, it’s here. And it’s sleek. And slick. And, well, it has a touch screen that’s pretty darn nifty, even if it is Microsoft. Smile. With a 16GB and 32GB version, and a price that’s not too high, a lot of people are going to be wanting this mp3 player.
Is it like the iPod Touch? Well, it has some features the iPod Touch doesn’t. Not a lot, but sometimes it’s the little things. There are optional features for this mp3 player as well.
Microsoft Zune HD Quick Stats:
- Screen: 3.3″ 16:9 OLED display (480 x 272 resolution)
- Features: Wireless, HD Radio, optional HD video out… full screen web browser… 16GB and 32GB sizes … and more…
Xboxist and PSP Updates had some information in the past about possible support for Xbox Live and the Sony Playstation Portable (PSP.) Microsoft has released some information, but the world is still waiting. Will it be a hit or miss? So far, it sounds like if you touch it, you’re gonna like it. Whether that’s true or not remains to be seen. This latest generation Zune looks to be a real contender. It’s going to be something to watch.
If you have an opinion on the Microsoft Zune HD mp3 player (With or without the video), we’d love to hear from you. Leave a comment below and let us know what you think. Whether you like it or not (and there’s a lot to like) or what features you think it should have, your opinion and input is important. Let us know!

The Samsung U5 – aka the Samsung YP-U5 – (see CNET Review or Samsung Official Page) is a super small mp3 player that still manages to pack a punch. While the screen is kinda tiny (ok, it’s *really* small) and this mp3 player only has 2GB, for the price and the brand, it’s not a bad buy. The little extras actually make it a pretty good buy (for the price) – from a decent voice recorder, to FM reception there are little things added that make it hard to hate this tiny offering from Samsung.
With a built in USB, it makes it easy to get your favorite music onto this player and even swap it out if you get tired of the same 2GB of music.
Samsung U5 Quick Stats:
- Dimensions: 2.61″ x 4.35″ x 1.49″
- Weight: 1.76 oz.
- Screen: 128 x 64 OLED
- Memory: 2 GB (Flash Memory)
- Microphone: Yes
- Speakers: No
- Supported Audio Formats: MP3, WMA, Ogg, FLAC
This is not the most powerful mp3 player on the market or even the smallest mp3 player available, but it’s a nice sub-compact with features that will have you happy. This little player from Samsung isn’t going to make everyone happy, but it’s going to be a hit for a lot of people.
If you’re into fitness and exercise and staying healthy, the size of this mp3 player is really going to be nice as you can wear it without even noticing it’s there. Add to that the ease of adding music to the player, and you have the perfect portable workout music to take with you wherever you go.
If you have a Samsung U5 (or five of them!) we’d love to hear from you. Leave a comment below and share your thoughts about this mp3 player. Is it TOO small? Too BIG? Just the right size? Let us know!

The Samsung Q2 (see CNET Review or Samsung official page) might seem basic to some, but that’s not a bad thing entirely. Even with a whopping 16GB of space and a beautiful screen, this mp3 player still doesn’t cost a lot of money.
There are downsides to this mp3 player, of course. From a distance it looks great, but on closer examination, you can see how they kept the price down (besides flash memory prices dropping.) It’s not horrible, though, and looks as if it will handle everyday use.
And the screen is really nice for this price level of mp3 player. Add to that the features you get, and it’s a really great value for your money, especially if you’re looking for a cheap second mp3 player or want to give one as a gift. It’s a budget mp3 player, that’s for sure, but in today’s day and age, that’s not such a bad thing, if you know what I mean.
Samsung Q2 Quick Stats:
- Dimensions: 1.93″ x 3.98″ x 0.39″
- Weight: 7.4 oz.
- Screen: 2.4″ TFT LCD QVGA (320 x 240 pixel resolution)
- Flash Memory (Internal): 16 GB
- Media Formats Supported: MP3 / WMA / Ogg / FLAC / WMV / MPEG4
- Features: Built in Mic. Voice Recording, Radio Tuner
This mp3 player doesn’t have everything that a lot of other mp3 players have, but they also don’t have this smoking low price point either. If you’re looking for an entry level mp3 player that doesn’t skimp on features or look to make up for a low price, the Samsung Q2 is for you.
If you have the Samsung Q2, we’d love to hear from you! Leave a comment below and let us know what you think of this mp3 player. Is it worth the price? Should it be cheaper? A good value for the money? Let us know what YOU think.

If you’ve been looking for a way to bring all your mobile devices when you’re on the go, your search is over. The Panther Pack (available at Proporta) is a great way to store and move your media devices. From your cellphone to your MP3 player, this little bag can store it and make it easy to get to headphones or other cables. That’s right. Unlike normal bags, the Panther Pack was designed with media users in mind. This makes it perfect for MP3 players and other media devices.
Whether you’re traveling by plane, train or automobile, it’s easy to misplace all your small media gadgets. Having a bag that holds them AND offers easy access to their cables and headphones is wonderful. Even if you’re biking, hiking or walking, the Panther Pack is going to make it a little easier to lug your gadgets around with you.
Beyond the usefullness of the product, you have to admire it’s quality and style. While it’s not over the top, there’s a cute little style to this bag. It’s almost understated, but it works really, really well. Bags like this don’t need to take over your wardrobe, if you know what I mean.
There aren’t too many bags out there like this. When looking at the design and how practical it is, you can tell a lot of effort went into this product’s creation. And that’s a good thing for you – especially if you have an mp3 player and a lot of other gadgets you like to take on the go.
There’s not room for an awful lot, but your mp3 player at least will fit. And that can make it a lot easier to carry it around – while still being able to listen to your music. That’s very, very cool.
