The Baylis Revolution (see CNET Review or see 3 reviews at ZDNET) is a great 8GB MP3 player (and more!) for the survivalist or outdoors type of person. The thing that makes it so special is that it’s a wind-up MP3 player. That’s right. If you’re somewhere without batteries or other sources of power, you can crank this baby up and have it working in no time. That’s really cool.
The wind-up MP3 player has a lot of other cool features too – like video playback, GPS, FM reception, photo viewer, voice recorder … and more. That’s a lot packed into a relatively small MP3 player – and one you don’t have to have batteries to use.
If you rarely go camping it may be a bit of overkill, but for the avid outdoorsman, it can add a lot of phone using ‘green energy.’
On the negative side, the MP3 player does not do DRM protected music. This may be a good thing, though, because if less players supported it, music might be a little cheaper.
The cool thing about the crank on back is that you can also charge other things with the Baylis Revolution wind-up MP3 player. This can be handy out in the wilderness and makes this an even more valuable piece of electronics.
