The Philips GoGear Spark (2GB) (see CNET Review or Engadget Review) isn’t for everyone, but it’s a nice general, all around MP3 player that should be well liked by a lot of people. In the world of MP3 players, though, the Philips GoGear Spark lacks enough spark to kick it to the top of the MP3 player list, but it’s not bad. The unique design (it’s another wearable MP3 player), bright screen and list of features isn’t too bad for the price.
Philips GoGear Spark Quick Stats:
- Dimensions: 5.9 in x 1.7 in x 5.7 in
- Weight: (Very light!)
- Screen: 1.4 inch Backlit OLED with 128×128 pixel resolution
- Supported Audio Formats: MP3, WAV, WMA, ADPCM
- Supported Image Formats: JPEG
- Supported Video Formats: None
- Internal Memory: 2GB
Wearable, tiny mp3 players have been around for a while now, but the spark in the Phiips GoGear Spark is that it has a somewhat large (considering its overall size) screen that’s in color. This is something a lot of the other wearable tiny mp3 players don’t have. This is what happens when you’re not first to market – you have time to fix mistakes previous players on the market have made (like no screen or a crappy screen.)
When it comes to features, the GoGear Spark isn’t as sparky as it is with the great screen. Oh, the basics are here – you’re going to be able to listen to mp3s. smile. – but it would’ve been nice to have a few more features or options. Still, for the price, if you’re looking for something small, wearable, with a decent sound that can hold a decent amount of music, the Philips GoGear Spark MP3 player should be on your list.
