Blast from the Past: SanDisk Sansa Fuze Still a Contender

The SanDisk Sansa Fuze (see Official SanDisk page or the PC World Review) has been around a while (since May 2008 or thereabouts), but in the fast paced world of technology, you can take advantage of things like drops in prices when ‘nearly new’ technology gets surpassed with some latest/greatest new feature. The SanDisk Sansa Fuze has been around a while, but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t make a great second MP3 player, or a gift for someone else who doesn’t have an MP3 player.

SanDisk Sansa Fuze Quick Stats:

  • Dimensions: 3.1″ x .3″ x 1.9″
  • Weight: 2.1 oz
  • Screen: 1.9″ landscape
  • Memory: 2GB • 4GB • 8GB – microSD/SDHC expansion
  • Supported Formats: MP3, OGG, FLAC, WMA, secure WMA, WAV, Audible, MPEG4
  • Extras: FM tuner/40 presets, Built in Microphone,

Ever since the SanDisk Sansa Fuze first came out, it’s been compared to the Apple iPod Nano. While it might look like the Nano (a little, under the right light, I guess), the Fuze has other things going for it that the iPod Nano lacks. (Not to mention a lower price when you shop around.)

The screen on the Fuze is a little smaller (with a few less colors), but when it comes down to it, with most MP3 players, you’re really concerned about the sound of the music moreso than how the user interface and album covers look on the screen. The screen on the Fuze is good enough.

As for music, the sound quality is there, especially if you invest in a good set of headphones or plan to hook the MP3 player up to your home theatre system (don’t forget to purchase all the necessary cables and wires!)

If you have or have had a SanDisk Sansa Fuze, leave a comment below and let us know what you think! Good or bad, we want to hear your opinion on this MP3 player.
