Here’s an interesting MP3 player story for you – Portsmouth police are offering to register MP3 players for citizens. The idea is that if the MP3 player (whether it’s an Apple iPod ot the new expensive Tonium Pacemaker) is registered with the police it can be more easily tracked if it’s stolen or something else happens to it.
If you’ve ever had your MP3 player stolen or lost it, you know it can be quite a bummer. According to some sources, if you have an Apple iPod, there’s a good chance it might be stolen as Apple iPods are the best selling and most stolen Mp3 players. Steps like the police in some cities are taking can be really helpful, though, in making it more difficult to steal MP3 players and get away with it.
Maybe one day there will be an MP3 player that will be tied to your body with some biometric means. That is, unless it recognizes you, it won’t play. Or if someone else tries to play it, it sends a signal to your cell phone and the police. That would be great. If the thief tried to play your MP3 player, they would just be letting the police know where they were.
If anyone out there knows of a product like that or would like to see one (LoJack for an MP3 player?) leave a comment below and let us know what you think. Or, if you have a sad tale of losing your mp3 player or having it stolen, let it all out in the comment box below. It only takes a little time and it might make you feel better. Having your MP3 player stolen really sucks, but it doesn’t have to be the end of the world.
Until next time, remember to keep an eye on that iPod!
