Sound quality is really the key with the Klipsch Image X5 Earphones. While their $250 price tags might deter casual music listeners, anyone who wants crystal clear sound while preserving their hearing will have the foresight to realize that these earphones will likely outlast your mp3 player and be worth the initial investment.
The variety of tips offered allow users to get the best possible fit inside the ear canal, creating a seal against outside noise that allows you to play your music quieter and save your senses. Comfortable and secure, the five interchangeable tips offer plenty of chances to get that sought after sound isolation. What’s more, the music quality is beautiful, balanced, and strong no matter the pitch.
The buds are themselves are some of the smallest on the market, increasing the comfort level of the earphones. Unfortunately, they might actually be too small if you happen to have larger ears, as even the large size really….isn’t that large at all.
If there’s any other flaw in this product, it’s the thin, black Y-cable that reaches from the buds to the flexible L plug. At 50 inches long, it’s extremely thin and prone to tangling, which is not only an inconvenience but raises a few durability concerns. There is a slider on the cable to help decrease the tangling problem though, and overall it’s not a deal breaker.
Bonuses include a semi-solid traveling case, the five different sized tips, an airplane adapter, and even an earwax cleaning tool. I tend to think music (and my sense of hearing) are worth the extra investment. Leave us a comment below to tell us if you agree.
