Happy speaker? What? LOL.

If it sounds odd, that’s because it is. That said, theĀ  X-Mini Happy Speaker MP3 player has an impressive design and a good sounds according to a reviews at CNET and elsewhere.

The downside is that it can be a little difficult to control as it has minimal controls. Songs are stored on SD memory cards, which makes it handy. The unique design makes the bass sound rather well, which is surprising to some because of the small size of the speakers.

One really cool feature is that you can daisy-chain them to spread the sound around and make it even more impressive. If you’ve done this and have pics or a video, we’d love to see them!

We hear that if you turn it up all the way (it starts this way all the time), that it literally shakes and rocks around a little. The sound was said to be really solid for the size of the speaker. Being able to chain them together can make for an even better sound.

While it may sound great for some, the fact that it plays music pretty much randomly may or may not be a good thing for some people. In party situations, it might be great. If you want to hear a particular style or folder of music, you’re not going to have much luck with this MP3 player speaker. There are basic controls, but they’re a little wonky and might have you doing things you didn’t mean to do.

All that said, the X-Mini Happy Speaker MP3 player is unique and in a world of speakers that are all the same, that is a good thing. At the price, it’s easy to justify two or even more of them to string them together and see what kind of soundscape you can create.
