If you’ve been waiting for an Android alternative MP3 player, your wait is almost over. According to rumors all over the Internet, the Samsung YP-MB2 is being released soon in South Korea and maybe elsewhere. Based on the Android 2.1 operating system, this and subsequent MP3 players based on the android OS from Google are going to be real competitors against the iPod Touch. (Some recent reports have shown Android mobile phones overtaking Apple’s iPhone 4 phones.
With a large, outdoor-friendly four-inch Super AMOLED screen and 1GHz processor but would depend on Wi-Fi alone although most who are looking for just an MP3 player won’t mind. Without being tied to a cellphone contract, there are other positives as well.
Other Features:
- TouchWiz (3.1) interface
- 32GB expected storage
As mentioned, this is not a mobile phone, so you can’t make calls, but it does pick up and use WiFi hotspots, so you can get email if you happen to have a connection nearby.
Overall, the price and features of this iPod Touch alternative are going to be what attracts people to the MP3 player, we think.
The Samsung YP-MB2 is expected to be released August 11th in Korea, with it spreading to the world soon after. There has been no confirmation as of posting of exact release dates however, so you’ll want to bookmark us and check back soon to get all the latest information on the Samsung YP-MB2.
